Distance Learning Art Courses

Students letters

Hello Lynette
Thank you for returning my drawings. I cannot tell you how thrilled and delighted I was to see them on your web site. What an amazing compliment. I also saw that Jo used my mushrooms on her site also. Such a boost and thrill. Many thanks.

I am honing my first Assignment for the SBA at present. I have discovered I have a real passion for pencil drawing, and this first Assignment is therefore right up my street. I hope it gets me off to a good start. I owe all this pleasure to you and your invaluable encouragement, help and support, Lynette. Thank you so much. I will keep you posted of developments. Hoping the web site will encourage lots of new students.

Kindest Regards
Barbara (Russ).

Hello Alan
Thankyou for looking at my work and I appreciate the advice you have given me.   The mp3 recording was fine, and it was nice to hear your voice.
Merry Christmas Feliz Navidad
Dear Stu
My Diploma arrived on Tuesday. I was really thrilled to see that it had been awarded "with distinction". Thank you so much for that. It now hangs in pride of place on my wall. I
n fact, the Diploma hangs alongside my original degree certificate (in History) from the University of Wales. Interestingly, they are almost exactly 35 years apart in time... 13 July 1971 and 10 July 2006! With thanks once again for all your help and kind comments throughout the course, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Kindest regards, Alan
Dear Linda, Please find enclosed my final assignment for your comments and supportive suggestions. I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for help and advice as I'm keen to continue learning and developing my artwork. --- Finally I would say that I have enjoyed the Portraiture course very much and have found it very informative. Andrew"
Dear Alan,
Thank you for your comments we (two other ladies from our art class and myself) all agree with you and we will be endeavouring to produce more. Your comment on sending only one picture was right. I did do more but did not submit them due to my previous experience with another Distance Learning college. On their watercolour course I had to adhere to exactly what was in the syllabus i.e. send only one picture. On one exercise I did extra work, but only got comments about one picture, the others being kept and ignored. Not a good experience. In contrast your course is a delight. Thank you. I am currently on the Painting & Drawing Diploma course, working on my final assignment withAlan Dedman. My workplace our local Primary Care NHS Trust held a Well being Day recently. It was the ideal opportunity to promote art as a very rewarding, satisfying and de-stressing activity. I held an exhibition of some of my work. Staff were invited to guess the name of my paintings and also to do their own bit of artwork on a painting I had pencilled out. The finished painting now stands in pride of place in our Primary Care Education Centre! My stall was a great success and I was visited by over seventy members of staff. Many asked for advice on how to get started as artists and others felt inspired to take up the pencil and paint brush again after many idle years. I was approached by someone to help with a community project for disadvantaged people in our area, encouraging children to help paint a mural on the wall of the community centre. Perhaps you would be kind enough to let Alan know of my success. Shona Lyall Student No. 34744
Dear London Art college,
I'm sending few images of my work. I had finished my Art in Graphic Design course. Thank you for my diploma which I received. I enjoyed the course and I'm thankful for Vanessa's support. She encouraged me through all the units and always gave many great advices. I hope the quality of few images of my will be suitable for the college's website. I hope they will motivate some of the future students at London Art College.
Thank you. Kind regards, Adriana Terzievova
"Although I hold a Fine Art Degree, I found your course very useful as it covered my particular interest in Illustration in a way that the degree course didn't. John Cameron was helpful as my mentor". Steve Raymond SF & Fantasy Illustration course by John Cameron
Dear Linda,
You are very gifted teacher and I feel the course had been well worth it.
Yours Elizabeth
Dear Stewart,
I really wanted to do an MA in Art History, but as my first degree was unrelated, I felt a bit unconfident about what little I knew. I was also nervous of the rather stuffy terminology and arty jargon, which I had seen, used sometimes in art criticism. I have to say, although I am not a fan of all things American, the course book is quite refreshingly direct. It assumes that you know nothing much about Art History, which was certainly fairly accurate in my case! I thoroughly enjoyed doing the course, which gradually introduces you to different artistic approaches and ideas. The written assignments might, initially, seem a little daunting to those who have not written anything for a while. They are well worth doing however, as they make you focus on the art you have just read about, and to try to make an informed judgement on it. You can undertake each assignment at your own speed. There is no pressure to hurry, and I found your input extremely helpful and encouraging. I am now deeply engrossed in my MA preliminary reading!
Many thanks. Charlotte Wiseman
Dear Alan,
I would like to thank you for all the help that you have given me throughout the last year on my Painting & Drawing Diploma course. You are a really good influence - and a kind and helpful person.

"Its always wonderful to hear your voice on tap, im a little sad that the course has come to an end. I have enjoyed the project thoroughly. I'm going to be illustrating my won children's books next and try to market them, or donate them to needy schools. Its a hobby that id like to keep alive. Thanks for your patients and kind words, it gives me more confidence." Carla - Childrens Illustration course
