Painting and Drawing Diploma Course (D1)
This is the London Art College’s foundation course. It has been carefully designed to give beginners and more experienced artists who feel they lack some basic techniques, a sound introduction to painting and drawing. The thirty three study units cover a wide range of subjects with different media. One of the key objectives of the course is to enable students to learn enough about panting and drawing in its many forms, to start to understand which areas they enjoy most with a view to concentrating more on these areas in the future.
Good basic techniques are, in our opinion, very important to enable would be artists to maximise their potential. Too often people are put off continuing with their art because they are disappointed with their early efforts, when, with better techniques and encouragement from their course artists, the work they produce would be more satisfying to them, leading to a desire to continue to paint and draw. The college believes that this course, with its well constructed, progressive self study units, is an excellent choice for the aspiring artist.
Study Units Cover :-
Materials needed, perspective, pen and ink drawing, drawing plants and flowers, drawing animals, drawing out of doors, using the photocopier, distinction between pen and pencil, illustrating for children, materials and colour, watercolour techniques and preparation, size and proportion of pictures, composition, landscapes, creativity in painting, oil painting, experiments with style, acrylics and gouache, life drawing, life and movement, male and female comparisons, portraiture, graphic design, poster painting, lettering, book jackets, greetings cards, fashion drawing.

Linda originally studied art after leaving school, and has been painting for commissions for many years. This work tended to be portraiture, which is still one of her great pleasures. Linda then studied Life drawing and found this both instructive and stimulating. She took a degree in illustration in 1991, when her family was more grown up, but found herself concentrating on gallery work and part-time teaching, mainly adults. Linda has worked as an artist in school and as a scene painter for both school and drama productions.........Click here to read more about Linda and see her other artwork.
