The London Art College specialises in providing tuition by Distance Learning art courses (Home-study art courses) and has an international reputation for excellence. Established in 1931 in Fleet Street, London by a group of artists and art editors, it specialises in the production of some of the best written art courses available anywhere in the world. We also offer a highly acclaimed art appreciation course (Diploma in Art History) suitable for artists and non artists alike.

Each course is specially designed for home study, allowing you to work at your own pace in the comfort of your own home. The college believes that painting and drawing skills can be acquired by anyone - with proper tuition and practice. We offer a range of courses for home-study: something for everyone from the complete beginner to the experienced artist.

Your Tutor
When you purchase one of our written courses you will be assigned a support tutor. Each course has It's own dedicated and experienced tutor within that chosen field, who will review submissions and give help, advice and encouragement as one artist to another. All of our tutors are talented painters and illustrators, active and successful usually with formal teaching qualifications. We hope you will find our website interesting and informative. The College prides itself on offering a warm welcome to new students and our courses are very carefully written to help aspiring artists develop their skills and build confidence. Art should be one of the great joys of life, but some people need a little help to get the best out of art. If you want to be a better illustrator or painter, we can help. If you are a beginner and would like a gentle introduction to bring out your talent, we can help. If you don't want to be an artist yourself, but you do want to understand art better, we can help. The college has always offered high quality courses at very competitive prices. We keep our costs under tight control and believe we offer great value for money. Art Courses
The college offers over twenty courses which you can start at any time. They all very carefully written and complete in themselves. They are divided into easy-to-understand and follow study units. Supported by full illustrations, the study units progress gently and steadily giving students a thorough grounding in the techniques being demonstrated. View our list of courses

Home Education
We cater for young artists, providing them a comprehensive foundation with our Young Artists Courses for 7 to 14 yrs. The courses have been written, illustrated and tutored by Melanie Phillips.
