Wonderful perfume box (3D packaging design)

The assignment of the Packaging Study Unit 15. I am supposed to create a name for a new product, the packaging and surface design and also do a mock-up. Firstly, I started thinking about the name of the product and the customer target, and I came up with an idea. As a matter of fact, I like to design manga cartoon characters. I was thinking to myself that it would be a good idea to use it for the packaging design. The target audiences could be girls around 15-24 years of age. So, I started listing all the names for the perfume box on a sheet of paper. And, I came up with ‘’Wonderful’’ because I believe that every girls are wonderful.

After I had got the name, I started drawing a wonderful manga cartoon picture with ink pen on the sheet of paper (A4 format). Obviously, she should look a bit naughty on purpose. Then I scanned it with 400 dpi, added colouring and enhance in Adobe Photoshop. It took me some time to choose the right colours for the cartoon picture and as well as a square background behind it. I found the right colours that would match the colour of the background. I chose black colour for the background. Secondly, I used Adobe Photoshop to create the packaging and design the surface. Then I was thinking how I can organize the cartoon picture on the surface and also leave some space for writing. I then transferred the cartoon picture and put it on the surface of the perfume box.

After I wrote "Wonderful" and moved it quite close to the corner of the box. I have seen a balance of the box and the picture especially we could see the cartoon picture quite outstanding. It was exactly what I wanted it to be. I then created a bubble, wrote (eau de parfum) and inserted the volume. On the back side of the box I added all the ingredients, and chose a nice font for “So  Wonderful” teaser, added the company name as well as information on manufacturing location on the right-hand side of the box. After that I printed it out by using 180-gram paper. Lastly, I cut out the pattern carefully, built it up as a box and took the photos on each and every surface. Done.!
