Distance Learning Art Courses

London Art College Success Stories - Jean Harlow

Jean began the Pet Portrait Diploma course whilst working overseas in Brunei and then Turkey.  She sent pictures of wild animals as well as pet portraits.  In her work she enjoyed using pencil, coloured pencil and watercolours.

Samples of course work were made into a portfolio, this was submitted in 2008 to Hull University to enable her to gain entry onto a BA (Hons) Fine Arts degree as a mature student.

Jean enjoyed the course immensely.  She has also shown her pictures locally which has resulted in commissions for pet portraits.  Some of her pictures are reproduced here.

Update in December 2010

We love to keep in touch with our students and Jean contacted us in December 2010 to let us know how things were progressing for her. Last spring she entered and got nominated for the Wildlife artist of the year 2010 and had two pieces shown in the Mall galleries London where Jean met David Shepherd.

Jean is nearing completion of her degree in fine art and is busy getting ready to open a studio in Dalby Forest with a focus on natural history, scientific and philosophical art.  She has also taught a short adult education course on animal drawing and hopes to do more of that in future.

If you would like to see some of Jeans work and follow her online blog diary you can follow her work here - http://www.jeanharlowartist.blogspot.com and we wish Jean the best of luck in her art career!
